Before and after

Many photos were taken before and during the restoration of this historic building. Photos taken from the same positions at the end of the restoration show some dramatic changes.

Kitchen

This 1980s fitted kitchen was reborn as a timber frame unfitted kitchen.

The timber framed west wall of the kitchen was heavily compromised by insertion of a later fireplace. The fireplace was later blocked but the double flue stack can still be seen at the west end of the house.

This part of the kitchen is where the original Tudor smoke hood was built in 1530:

It was a lovely surprise that the builders of the brick fireplace had spared the old pot hook and chain, and they were found poking through the newer structure:

Landing

After a 20 year restoration project, guests are invited to rent this 500-year old house for holidays.
